The atmosphere at YDT Dessert is laid-back and casual. With simple decor, air conditioning, and fans to keep things cool, it’s a good spot to lepak with friends or family.

The dessert’s menu features a delightful array of traditional tong sui, such as Gingko Barley with Tang Yuen (RM9.80), Yang Zi Gan Lu (RM9.80), Red Bean with Purple Rice and Taro Balls (RM8.80) and so much more variety, available in both hot and cold bases. Each dessert is made with fresh and high-quality ingredients here.

Customers rave about how the traditional taste of the desserts really shine through in every spoonful. For instance, it’s rare to find red bean porridge with orange peel these days. This makes it a nostalgic treat for those who appreciate such old-school touches.

The tong sui here strikes a subtle balance: thick, not overly sweet, and definitely not artificial (just the way it should be). It’s the kind of authentic taste that’s hard to come by in overly commercialised dessert spots. What’s even better? The pricing is incredibly reasonable, with most traditional tong sui priced under RM10. Only a few options creep over the RM10 mark.

For something cooler, YDT Dessert also offers a selection of shaved ice desserts that are perfect for a hot day. While some of the shaved ice options can be a bit on the sweeter side for some, they’re still a crowd favourite. Prices range from RM9.80 to RM17.80, a slightly pricier option compared to the traditional tong sui, but worth the splurge.

A standout item in this category is the Aiyu Snowflake (RM10.80), made with special Calamansi shaved ice. The tangy, citrusy kick of the calamansi makes this dessert a zesty, refreshing option. This is perfect for those who love a bit of sour in their sweets.

If you’re in the mood for something a little different, the Chilled Peach Gum Taro Ball Dao Fah (RM9.80) from their Dao Fah Series comes highly recommended. This twist on the classic dao fu fah is cool and light, with a variety of flavours that will keep you on your toes. It’s a chilled dessert that adds a unique touch to the usual offerings.

Although YDT Dessert in PJ has only been around for about a year, it currently holds a good 4.2-star rating on Google Reviews, with a dedicated following of customers eager to return. Patrons highlight the quality ingredients, comforting flavours, and authentic taste of the tong sui.

One standout dish is the Scallion Oil Noodles (RM11.80), a simple yet popular option that one reviewer described as “amazing.” Another no-brainer choice is the Tom Yum Mee Hoon (RM6.80), which has fried mee hoon, shredded eggs, fish balls, and fish cake.

For a quick snack, options like Sweet Potato Fries (RM6.80) and Curry Fishballs (RM6.80) hit the spot. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, don’t miss their deep-fried ice cream. It’s available in three tempting flavours: chocolate, vanilla, and yam.
