The hot weather has been the talk of the town as of late. Other than staying indoors and eating cold foods, there are more fun ways of staying cool in the sweltering heat. One thing you can and should do is visit your local water park!

As a tropical country, it is not surprising that Malaysia has quite a few of these. In fact, some of these water parks are record-breaking in one way or another. Which ones are these? Read on and see which of these 10 water parks will be your next holiday destination.

Selangor

Located in the new township of Gamuda Cove, this water park spans an impressive 18 acres and has 39 rides and attractions. These include the Atlantis VR and the Shaka Waka. It is among Malaysia’s newer water parks, so everything feels up to date.

There is simply no way this list will not mention the grand old dame of water parks. It is home to the Vuvuzela, the world’s largest vortex water slide, and a large surf beach for visitors to ride the waves. For those who love a good scare, Scream Park is a must-visit.

A budget-friendly option for locals, this water park has kid-friendly slides, splash pads and a gentle lazy river. There is quite a lot of shady greenery here, so it’s a good way to escape the city without escaping the city. Perfect for family with kids bouncing with energy.

Johor

This water park is more for kids than adults, but the young at heart can always enjoy themselves here. There are over 20 slides and attractions, including the customisable Build-A-Raft River. Did you know this is the world’s largest Legoland Water Park?

This water park is close to the beach, so you can hop over any time you want. Not that you will, as the park has over 20 rides plus one of the world’s largest wave pools. There are five themed zones altogether, which will keep you busy.

If you are an adrenaline junkie, this attraction is a hybrid park with both water rides and extreme sports. Attractions worth looking out for include the Tornado Ride and Drift Racer. There are also indoor facilities like the trampoline park and rock climbing walls, perfect for gym rats.

Melaka

Who said that everything in Melaka is old? A’Famosa, named after the famous historical site, has everything from wave pools to speed slides. Primarily targeted at kids, the water theme park is a good stopover for parents who would prefer to explore the city itself.

Perak

Another Sunway property, Lost World is nestled next to gorgeous limestone cliffs. In addition to the water park itself, there are natural hot springs and a zoo to explore. The Hot Springs Night Park, in particular, lets you end your day with a relaxing bath, so it’s worth checking out.

Did you know the world’s longest tube water slide is in Penang? It stretches across a distance of over 1 km and is just one of ESCAPE’s many attractions. The place also has a Dead Sea pool and Malaysia’s first ski slope, so it’s an obvious draw for adrenaline junkies.

Langkawi’s only operating water theme park has 12 attractions, ranging from the terrifying to the laidback. If you like the former, Poseidon’s Revenge beckons. The River of Life, on the other hand, is a perfectly safe and relaxing getaway for parents and kids alike.
