As the title suggests, the crowd-favourite Nasi Lemak Shop in Bandar Utama is already a household name and needs no introduction at this point.
Having debuted only about a year ago, this shop has made quite a name for itself. Thus, regulars will be ecstatic to learn that they’ve recently expanded with a brand-new location in SS15.
The OG Nasi Lemak Shop outlet
Over the past year, the first outlet of the aptly named Nasi Lemak Shop in Bandar Utama, has quickly become quite the local hotspot.
Initially, dining here with friends or family often sparked a chucklesome scenario—when someone suggested the “nasi lemak shop,” it was always followed by the question, “Can, which one?” Thankfully, as word spread, that confusion lessened significantly. Not gonna lie, it still tickles me a little.
This gem quickly rose through the ranks, with many, including myself, now declaring it the best ayam goreng nasi lemak out there. With a solid 4.4-star rating and over 500 reviews, it’s become a go-to for many PJ folks.
The compact space is always bustling, provoking modest queues. Parking is also sort of a nightmare in this area. Thus, the new SS15 branch is certainly a welcome addition for regulars of this spot.
The new SS15 Courtyard outlet
As of this article’s writing, the second Nasi Lemak Shop outlet only opened about a month ago. It is significantly bigger than the first. This means more seating and a shorter wait time. Located inside SS15 Courtyard, you can say bye-bye to parking hassles, as the mall has basement parking readily available.
While the interior mirrors the simple, contemporary kampung vibe of the original eatery, you’ll miss the outdoor seating experience that the Bandar Utama branch offers—which I personally enjoy.
The menu did not change with the expansion, staying true to its roots. Aside from their signature ayam goreng nasi lemak, they also have other nasi lemak options such as their sambal udang petai and rendang chicken.

The restaurant offers a few noodle dishes, such as mee siam and white curry mee, plus a delightful selection of bingsu for dessert. The Mango and Thai milk tea flavours are popular orders here and patrons do enjoy the bingsu for its high-quality and taste.

Psst, not many folks know about this new SS15 location yet, so it’s relatively less crowded compared to the Bandar Utama branch—for now. This branch is a game-changer for Subang residents, who no longer need to drive 30 minutes to satisfy their “Nasi Lemak Shop” nasi lemak cravings.
MFT’s Review

Having dined here many times before, let me give you a brief breakdown of what you can expect of the Ayam Goreng Nasi Lemak here (RM15.90).
First up, the rice. It’s fragrant, fluffy, and has a prominent santan flavour that acts as the perfect base for the dish.
The sambal? Absolutely addictive. It strikes the perfect balance between spicy and sweet, with a robust flavour that has a slightly charred undertone. The best part? It’s bottomless! Yes, yes yes. You can indulge in as much sambal as your heart desires, and trust me, you’ll definitely be asking for more.
Alongside the rice, you’ll find crispy kacang, anchovies, and fresh cucumber slices that add a nice crunch and coolness to the dish.
Now, let’s talk about the ayam goreng berempah. For RM15.90, the dish comes with a chicken leg, chopped into two, both generously topped with a crispy layer of rempah.
Served piping hot, the chicken is incredibly juicy, soft, and simply bursting with flavour. The skin is crispy and golden, making each bite pure perfection. I mean just look at the glisten on that drumstick.

The chicken here will truly satisfy all your fried chicken fantasies. Is this a biased opinion? Maybe. Is it an accurate one? I’d like to think so.
If you haven’t tried the ayam goreng nasi lemak here, I suggest you get to it, *wink* soon.
