Specialising in chapati and authentic tandoor dishes, you and your family are in for a treat! You can’t go to Big Singh Chapati and not order what they are known for: their chapati! Round Indian flatbread that is warm, fluffy, and delicious! Pair it with their thick and creamy Palak Paneer with fresh chunks of paneer that will melt in your mouth – absolutely divine! Best enjoyed hot and fresh on site. They also have set meals from 11am to 4pm that you can opt for, only available on weekdays.

Their Nasi Lemak comes with a huge piece of fried chicken leg that is crispy and tender. They also have Hainanese Fried Chicken Chop, a popular order here at Fort Garrison. Portions are generous for an affordable rate! There is also plenty of parking in Seventeen Mall so do give this place a try.

Fairly new to the food scene is GoodMem in Jalan Maarof Bangsar, with dishes matching those typically found in our local kopitiams. Though new, this does not discount what they have to offer. Their Chili Pan Mee is a signature dish and a must try at only RM14.90! The noodles have a delightfully bouncy texture and when mixed well and eaten hot, you get a lovely and filling bowl of noodles that is bursting with flavour with each mouthful. Another must-try is their Nasi Lemak which comes with Chicken Rendang instead of fried chicken and their special GoodMem sambal. The rice is fragrant and tasty and the rendang has the perfect balance between sweet, spicy, and lemon-grassy! They have a lunch set promo every Monday to Friday from 11:30am to 3pm.

Moving on to our Kuching recommendations, we have The Container; A go-to location thanks to their generous portions and yummy Western food. A breezy and relaxing place to have dinner with friends and family. Their scrumptious grilled marinated boneless chicken leg is served with their signature black pepper sauce, a side of creamy mashed potatoes, and homemade pickles. This is a filling and comforting meal at only RM20! If you are a fan of pasta, we recommend their Chicken Maryland Spaghetti; deep-fried breaded boneless chicken cutlets served with a side of aglio olio pasta and black pepper sauce – a perfect balance between carbs and protein! There is plenty of parking available around the lot so don’t hesitate to check them out.

Oinks in Tabuan Heights, as the name suggests, serves up specialty pork dishes that will satisfy your meaty cravings. A Western restaurant with a menu that’s a carnivore’s dream. You can choose to sit indoors where it is air-conditioned, or at their outdoor seating area. With most of their reviews raving about their flavourful, tender meat, we recommend trying their Oinks! Sampler Platter at RM99 for a small and RM179 for a large. This dish comes with mixed samplers of their top meats which include roast pork, roast knuckle barbeque pork ribs, smoked bacon, pork sausage, and roast chicken, served with a side of mashed potatoes, salad and sauce.
A steal for the price and a good option for sharing! For those with young children, their Spaghetti Bolognese is delicious, with huge, juicy pork meatballs and a generous serving of pasta topped with parmesan cheese. If you’re not a fan of salted egg, try their fried buttermilk chicken burger; an overnight buttermilk-brined chicken thigh, fried to perfection, before being served between two fluffy charcoal brioche buns!
