Something Bakery, the beloved bakery from Melaka, has now made its way to our side of the nation, opening a brand-new outlet in our bustling capital. Their signature mille crepe cakes are a visual masterpiece, with layer upon layer of delicate crepes, stacked with smooth and flavourful cream.
The cakes are said to have 1000 layers. Is this true, or is it just a clever marketing gimmick? Honestly, who cares? The cake’s reputation for its intricate layers and rich taste speaks for itself and now you don’t have to travel all the way to Melaka to indulge in this sweet treat. This new branch has already caught the eye of cake lovers, with a good 4.1-star rating on Google Reviews. It’s safe to say this bakery-cafe is on track to become even more popular in the near future.
A flavour for every craving

The mille crepe cakes come in 9 different flavours, ensuring that there’s something for everyone. From the Signature Original, which has been winning hearts for years, to more unique choices like the Genmaicha and Coconut. Each flavour is made fresh daily, giving you a taste of something that’s both homemade and high-quality. The cakes are delivered straight from Melaka, so you can enjoy that authentic taste right here in KL.
The secret to the perfect mille crepe cake lies in the balance of the cream filling, and it seems like Something Bakery has nailed it. Reviews show that customers are delighted with whatever flavour they try. As the popular Asian phrase goes, “it’s not too sweet”—translation: just the way we like it. This thoughtful craftsmanship ensures each slice of cake feels indulgent yet light, allowing you to savour every bite without feeling overwhelmed.

In addition to the delectable crepe cakes, Something Bakery also offers a special treat. With every slice of cake you purchase, you get a free cup of yellow tea. The tea complements the cake perfectly, balancing out the sweetness and adding a touch of warmth to the experience.
If you’re someone who has a sweet tooth but works late, Something Bakery has got your back. They’re open until 8:30 pm daily, so you can swing by for a slice after a long day of work. Whether you’re catching up with friends or treating yourself to something sweet after dinner, this bakery offers a convenient spot for a late-night dessert session. No need to worry about early closing hours. On weekends, they also offer Premium Series flavours, though be prepared for a bigger crowd and maybe even a queue.
MFT’s review

So, was this Melaka mille crepe cake brand really worth the hype, or did it fall short? We tried two popular flavours, and here’s our take on the cakes.
The Signature Original flavour unsurprisingly earned a well-deserved 9/10 from us. The balance of creamy goodness between the layers was just right—not too thick to weigh you down, but just enough to complement the delicate layers of crepes. It wasn’t overwhelming in any way, though we did notice that even a single slice can feel a bit jelak after a while. So, pairing it with a palate-cleansing drink or sharing it with friends could be a good idea. For this reason, we really appreciated the free cup of tea, as it helped balance out the richness perfectly.

The Genmaicha flavour came in at a solid 8.5/10. The green tea taste wasn’t too overpowering, which could be a plus or minus depending on your preferences. For us, it offered a more subtle, yet enjoyable experience. It’s a great choice for those who enjoy the earthy Genmaicha flavour, but mild enough not to deter newcomers.

Would we return for more? Absolutely! Next time, we’d go in a bigger group so we can sample more flavours and avoid getting too full. We’d recommend enjoying the cakes in moderation or with company to balance out the richness of the cream.
