In the heart of KL, a sophisticated space awaits—where the gentle clink of glasses echoes not with alcohol, but with the spirit of inclusivity and memories in the making. This is Soberside, an elegant, non-alcoholic cocktail bar that invites our Muslim friends to experience the unique flavours and ambiance of a bar, while staying true to their beliefs.
Promising an experience as refreshing as it is refined? We think so!
Honouring our country’s diversity
Introducing such a novel concept to the city’s social scene creates a safe space where Muslim patrons can indulge in a new experience. By offering a beverage menu exclusively free from alcohol, Muslim clientele are free to explore and enjoy the range of unique cocktails available, worry-free.
Soberside not only fills a gap in the market but also draws attention towards cultural awareness and inclusivity. It is a progressive step towards creating environments within our local community that cater to the diversity of our nation. In this case, giving Muslims a chance to somewhat experience drinking at a bar.

However, this innovative establishment represents more than just a place for our halal friends to gather. Marrying cocktails with adherence to halal principles, while trying not to compromise on the flavour experience, is no easy feat. Yet, Soberside embraced the challenge with zeal and has curated a menu of meticulously crafted beverages that abide by the highest standards of halal dining, making them one of the very few non-alcoholic bars in KL.
Their cocktail innovation within the bounds of halal practices is appreciated for its uniqueness, but does it deliver in terms of the ambiance, taste, and overall experience?
Are we here for the vibes?
Unbeknownst to most, Soberside is actually tucked inside Monograph Cafe, a Japanese-Western fusion cafe that serves delicious contemporary dishes. Soberside and Monograph share a spacious, open-floor space that is elegant and aesthetic with a zen architectural design.
This duo is only a 5-minute walk from the Pasar Seni MRT station. The space is lit with soft lighting and the wooden surfaces give it a clean and rich feel. Sparkling with warmth, it really does invite you in.
Does it feel like your typical bar? Not really. Soberside gives off more of an upper-class, boujee cocktail bar, but we are not mad about it. In three words, it is modern, sophisticated, and tasteful, so yes, we are totally here for the vibes!
While it may not ooze the average bar experience, it gives you an elevated twist that we actually prefer. We also love that you can have a few drinks at Soberside before moving to Monograph for your main meal.

MFT’s Review
Why go to a non-alcoholic bar at all, unless you know that they’re going to deliver on drinks? Tried and tested, we’re here to tell you whether Soberside is worth your time. They have over 15 beverages for you to indulge in and we tried three.
Matcha Tonic (RM28)
For all you matcha aficionados out there, this one’s for you. Made with a shot of matcha instead of gin, this is as close as you’ll get to a non-alcoholic gin and tonic. They use elderflower to give it a slight bittersweet flavour profile. We have to say, it was quite light, refreshing, and enjoyable.
Jeffrey’s Punch (RM28)
Not a fan of matcha? We got you. Go a little tropical with their Jeffrey’s Punch. Whip shaked with toasted coconut water, pineapple, lime, sugar, and bitter orange, this is fruity and smells divine. It tastes quite tart from the citrus fruit combo but is refreshing, has a subtle sweetness, and will make you feel like you’re in the Bahamas.
White Veeno (RM18)
We couldn’t leave without trying their bestseller. Mixed with lychee, chrysanthemum, peach, apple, and lemon, this was our favourite cocktail of the night and ironically, the most affordable. It was sweet and heavy on the peach profile, which we personally loved. Definitely a must-try.

Verdict? Soberside is worth a visit for those looking to experience drinking at a non-alcoholic bar, and for Muslims on the hunt for yummy cocktails. The beverages are on the pricey side considering there is no actual alcohol in them. However, we can’t deny that they are tasty, creative, and well thought out.
The ambiance and service here are top-notch, so, if you’re willing to pay a little extra for the drinks, vibes, and experience, then don’t hesitate to check this place out.
