This new aesthetic Korean-themed cafe in PJ is worth the buzz and I’ll tell you why

In Ara Damansara, a collaboration between Unsalted Butter and GLTC has created a haven for those seeking a blend of tranquillity and trendiness. Combining dreamy cakes with creamy gelato in one cottagecore space, you’ll find yourself stepping into a realm where minimalist elegance meets sweet sensations.

Join us as we uncover why this supposedly Korean-themed spot has been getting so much attention only weeks after its debut.

The charm of Unsalted Butter x GLTC

Upon stepping inside, one is immediately struck by the quaintness of the space. Strategically filled with mismatched chairs and variously shaped coffee tables, the cafe invites customers to settle in and unwind.

Soothing pastel hues grace the walls and interior—it is a space reminiscent of a countryside diner in Korea. The atmosphere feels specifically designed to evoke a sense of nostalgia and comfort. Providing a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of urban life.

Unsalted Butter, has become renowned for its creative drinks and delicate pastries, which of course take centre stage in this collaboration. The cafe showcases a pretty array of dainty cakes and pastries that are not just treats for the taste buds but also visual masterpieces.

Each confection is crafted with precision and care, it almost feels like a factory of fairies made them. This is simply a reflection of Unsalted Butter’s dedication to both taste and aesthetic.

Meanwhile, near the entrance, occupying a corner of the cafe space is GLTC. A cute gelato cart that seamlessly complements the sweetness of Unsalted Butter’s offerings.

GLTC churns out small batches of creamy gelato, and this collaboration happens to be their soft launch into PJ’s FnB scene. Patrons can indulge in scoops of cooling goodness in between bites of delicate pastries.

One of the cafe’s most odd yet enchanting features is the sink positioned between the pastry display. Take a peek inside and you’ll find that this centrepiece is actually filled with water, with a beautiful array of fresh flowers just floating on the surface.

Anyone else feeling that fairy aesthetic again? It’s often small details like these that elevate a cafe’s dining experience.

Drinks with clouds of cotton candy

The allure of this cafe lies not only in its detailed and charming aesthetics, but also in its creativity and innovation. Kicking things up a notch Unsalted Butter has an innovative ‘In the Cloud’ drink series. It features three different flavoured drinks, topped with a fluffy cloud of cotton candy. As you can imagine, this creates quite a visually appealing drink.

Every single one of their pastries and cakes are also unique in flavour and presentation. Made with rare fruits, various coloured whips and creams, and carefully curated toppings, they present you with visually stunning pieces that are almost too pretty to eat.

Not to mention that their brilliant collaboration with GLTC creates a synergy between two distinct areas in the dessert world, truly enhancing your overall experience at the cafe. Within the food industry, partnerships and collaborations can often lead to new and exciting ventures. This is always thrilling for foodies.

Imagine spending a leisurely afternoon sipping on tea and enjoying a slice of intricately decorated cake, while your friend digs into a scoop of baby blue gelato. Sounds perfect doesn’t it? Even if you’re seeking a rare moment of solitude, Unsalted Butter is the place to be.

But, is aesthetics enough of a justification to visit a trending cafe? Not in our books. During our recent visit to Unsalted Butter, we indulged in a variety of their signature pastries and drinks. Here’s what we honestly think.

MFT’s Review

The Blueberry Financier (RM7) quickly caught our attention. It offered a delicate texture and a subtle sweetness. Reminiscent of a softer version of a madeleine, it was almost like a soft cookie.

The Oreo Lavian (RM16), was a hefty cookie, so we expected it to be soft and with filling, this was not the case. Unfortunately, it disappointed with its overly hard texture, not quite living up to its promising appearance.

Our disappointment was quickly quelled by the Raspberry Scone (RM16). This was a sweet and fruity delight. The raspberry cream was not greasy and complemented the scone perfectly. The MVP amongst all the pastries we sampled.

We had to try their Blueberry Hokkaido Cheesecake (RM32), one of their bestsellers, and were happy to find the sponge cake fluffy and soft.

Taking a quick reprieve from the sweet treats, we tried the Egg Mayo Honey Mustard (RM25) next. This dish served as a mini big breakfast dupe with nachos, salad, and an egg mayo sandwich. The egg mayo sandwich had rich notes of garlic which won us over, despite the bread being a bit too firm. Who doesn’t love garlic, right?

Of course we couldn’t leave without trying their cloud drink series. Amongst the three flavours, we opted for the Midnight Lavender (RM19). A fizzy drink topped with light cotton candy, a sight for sore eyes. We found that we couldn’t really taste the cotton candy because the drink itself was sweet, but it was a pleasant drink nonetheless.

We also got their Summer Garden Melon (RM16), which was very refreshing, rounding off our little tasting session on a favourable note.

Is it worth the buzz?

We think so. While not everything we sampled was to our liking and the prices are a tad bit on the higher side, there were a few standouts. It is just a matter of trial and error to see what you end up enjoying most. Taking into consideration the atmosphere and service, this place is definitely worth the hype, and we will go back to sample more of their offerings, like the GLTC gelato.

For those who appreciate the finer things in life, Unsalted Butter x GLTC is well worth a visit. We simply cannot get over how stepping into this space made us feel like we were walking through a spring meadow in full bloom. This space gifts patrons with springtime bliss, a little sprinkle of Korean-aesthetics, and beautiful creations that again, feel like fairies made them just for you.

The details here truly delight the senses and who doesn’t want to be delighted?
