If you’ve spent time in SS15, you’ll know it’s brimming with cafés. Every other weekend, the area buzzes with new openings. Yet, it’s rare to find one that quietly impresses without trying too hard, like Three Plates Full.
The name caught my eye first: simple, almost cheeky. It brought to mind the nursery rhyme, “Three Bags Full”. Later I learnt that the name represents a complete meal with a starter, main, and dessert, it made sense. Straightforward in concept, yet thoughtfully executed, much like the café itself.
Bright, airy, and spacious
Step inside and the first thing you’ll notice is the light. Sunlight pours through tall windows, bouncing off wooden tables and soft tones that make the space instantly inviting. It’s not the kind of café you rush through.
Spread across multiple floors, Three Plates Full maintains a sense of calm even when the lower level is full. The atmosphere alone would have been enough to keep me there, but the service made it better. The staff check in with genuine warmth, from refilling water to serving your meal. In a neighbourhood packed with busy eateries, that sincerity stands out.

Proper brunch spread, no half measures
My meal began with the Smoky BBQ Pork Ribs (RM68.30), served on a platter so large it could feed two. The ribs were glazed in a house-made barbecue sauce balanced between sweet and savoury, with meat so tender it pulled apart effortlessly. that had just the right balance of sweet and savoury. Every bite carried that deep, smoky richness that lingers just long enough to make you slow down.
Next came the XXL sized Crispy Fried Chicken (RM24.80 for 3 pieces). Only when it arrived did I realise that portions here are anything but modest. The golden crust shattered with a satisfying crunch, yet stayed light and not greasy. The chicken inside was tender and well-seasoned. It’s the kind of dish that makes you pick up your fork faster than you intended, and think about it days later.

From the weekend brunch menu, I tried the Salmon and Egg Hollandaise Waffle (RM27.90). Visually, it was a stunner. The cured salmon slices were arranged like small rose petals, two poached eggs perched on a golden waffle, and a drizzle of hollandaise brought everything together. The taste was spot-on: soft eggs, melt-in-the-mouth salmon, and a waffle that added just the right structure. Every element complemented the other beautifully.
To lighten things up, I added a Caesar Salad (RM23.80) to the mix. Crisp greens, light dressing, and crunchy croutons, it was a good refreshing breather between the heavier plates.

Ending on a sweet note
No meal feels complete without dessert, and I couldn’t leave without trying a few. The Teh Tarik Panna Cotta (RM18.80) stood out right away. It’s creamy with a faint tea aroma and topped with a soft layer of foam that gives it a distinct Malaysian twist. In hindsight, it shouldn’t be all that surprising that tea and cream would go well together. After all, teh tarik itself relies on that balance. But I didn’t expect the pairing to translate this beautifully into a panna cotta.
The Apple Crumble with Lemon Blossom Gelato followed, warm and buttery with delicate apple textured bites. The gelato added a light citrus note that matched the sweetness perfectly. Even for someone who’s not fond of lemon, it was an acceptable finish.

Three Plates Full surprised me. It doesn’t chase trends or overly relies on its aesthetics, it focuses on getting the fundamentals right. Thoughtful food, generous portions, and a calm, sunlit space come together seamlessly.
If you plan to visit, come with an appetite. The servings are hearty, and the menu has enough variety to keep you curious. They also have a private floor for small gatherings, which makes it great for birthdays or casual celebrations.
I walked out full and slightly impressed that a place this good could stay this low-key so far.
