Picture this: an uncle with his trusty wok, a hand towel thrown over his shoulder, and a frown of exasperation filling his features. Yes, you’re picturing right. This isn’t just any egg fried rice review. This is a saga of a weary uncle’s battle against the relentless pursuit of fame.
What is going on?
On the brink of fried rice fame, he almost prevented us from reviewing his famous egg fried rice. “Stop coming already. I cannot tahan anymore,” he complained in our direction, frustrated. All he wants to do is whip up some darn good egg fried rice for his long queue of customers.
Apparently, the spotlight shines a little too brightly on this humble chef. Buckle up, because this is a review that almost didn’t make it to your plates!

In the midst of the bustling chaos at Kam Heong Coffee Shop in Bandar Baru Petaling Jaya, is this humble fried rice stall. The chef used to work at one of the world’s most famous Taiwanese restaurants, he must have picked up a thing or two because he is making a name for himself right here in PJ.
What’s the big deal?
Here, at this local stall, he has grown very popular and has gained a ton of regular customers who just can’t get enough of his star dish. Each plate is sold at RM9 and is served in decent-sized portions. So why all the fuss over a simple plate of egg fried rice sold at an ordinary fare? We had to find out!
At first glance, the dish looked like any other egg fried rice out there. Little bits of fried egg and green onions peeking out through a mound of rice.

MFT’s Review
While it looked nothing but ordinary, its flavours and wok hei shocked us. What immediately stood out was that the rice was not coated in a thick layer of oil, instead, it was enjoyably greasy. The prawns were not cut into indistinguishable tiny pieces, but remained whole, fresh, and did not have a rubbery texture.

The allure of this egg fried rice lies not in additional extravagant ingredients or a ridiculously affordable price, but in its comforting familiarity and unbeatable flavour. Each mouthful was savoury, balanced, and light. Delicious! We instantly gave it a 10/10. Paired with their belacan sambal for an additional kick of flavour; chef’s kiss.

They easily sell up to 300 plates of egg fried rice daily. I wonder how many eggs they use in a day. At any point during their operating hours, you can hear the clamour of eager patrons vying for a taste.
Amidst this whirlwind of attention from returning customers and food bloggers, is the weary uncle. who was once able to seek sanctuary within his kitchen, which has now become a stage for the relentless pursuit of publicity.
What else can he do when his egg fried rice is just that good! Comments have even highlighted that when his staff make the dish, it just doesn’t hit the same. Clearly, this uncle has a knack for making his star dish.
If you are craving a plate of childhood nostalgic egg fried rice that will take you down memory lane, then this is the spot for you!
