There’s a halal roast duck restaurant located at Taman Melawati that is pretty ‘ducking’ good, and guess what? Halal Roast Duck by Duckout is Muslim-owned and uses all halal-sourced ingredients. This means everyone can enjoy a good plate of classic Chinese-style roast duck without feeling left out.
Forget the Michelin stars and fancy platings; sometimes, nothing beats the comforting feel that a classic roast duck gives you. Imagine that juicy roast duck, with its crispy outer skin dipped in that classic soy sauce, paired with that flavourful, fluffy, chicken rice. The thought of it is enough to get your mouth watering!
Is it really that ducking good?

We know what some of you might be thinking… does this roast duck live up to the standards that your grandma cooks, or the kind of hawker stalls that those friendly uncles have operated since the 80s; with recipes passed on from generations?
Well, we kid you not… the roasted duck is really up to par. One of our MFT colleagues has high standards since he grew up eating Hakka-style braised duck. According to him, this Half Roast Duck gets a green light!
They shower the duck with hot oil, giving the skin a perfect crispy texture, while still retaining the duck meat’s tenderness. The roast duck is drenched with a generous amount of aromatic soy sauce.
A plate of Half Roast Duck is served with three different sauces, for you to enjoy the dish 3 different ways. There’s a dry chilli type of sauce, black sauce, and their homemade duck sauce. Take it from us, the homemade duck sauce without a doubt is the best pairing!
Their crispy chopped tempeh and fried tofu is also just the perfect side to pair with the rice and roast duck.
Other equally ducking delicious dishes

Although their roast duck can stand on its own, their Sambal Belacan Duck Fried Rice also deserves its own spotlight. It’s a plate loaded with flavours, coming from that rich fiery sambal belacan paste and crispy chunks of duck. The fried rice also has the perfect wok hei taste, a result of tosses on wide pans over high heat.
Fans of noodles will be down bad for their springy and silky Cantonese Duck Wanton Noodles, which hits just right when paired with the juicy duck slices.

What sets this restaurant apart is their spin on classic Chinese dishes, with fusion takes like Masak Lemak Cili Padi Duck set, and Balinese Duck Rice.
Spice enthusiasts will find their match in the Masak Lemak Cili Padi Duck, where the fiery kick of belacan is beautifully balanced by the creamy richness of santan. Meanwhile, the Balinese Duck Rice, is a clear love letter to Indonesian cuisine, featuring sambal hijau and sambal soy sauce as dipping sauces.

Duckout offers a fresh, modern ambience perfect for a relaxed meal. Think clean lines, minimalist decor, and a touch of Asian flair with hanging lamps and intricately engraved Chinese partitions. Whether you’re a duo or a larger group, comfortable seating accommodates parties of up to 6, with longer tables for sharing.
Price-wise, the roast duck ranges between RM26 to RM85, depending on whether you’re ordering quarter, half or whole roast duck. A quarter duck is perfect for one, while a half or whole duck feeds two to four people comfortably. Side dishes like Sizzling Beancurd or Bok Choy with Oyster Sauce range from RM9 to RM12, and add-ons start from just RM2.
Overall, we think the price is standard for the area, and it’s reasonable especially if you’re coming here with larger groups!
