If you’re someone who loves pasta but gets bored of the same old restaurant options, there’s a game-changer in Subang you need to check out. Meet Pasta Pintal, the roadside stall that’s redefining what fresh pasta should be. It’s so fresh, in fact, that the owner rolls out the dough right in front of you and cuts in on the spot.

Yes, you read that correctly; fresh pasta made right on the spot, by the roadside. Pasta Pintal is the first of its kind in Malaysia, and despite being so new it’s already causing quite the buzz.

A catchy pasta phenomenon

Pasta Pintal, which debuted in August 2024, wasn’t born out of some grand business plan or a hefty investment. Nope, it all started with a simple observation. The owner noticed that he’s never come across roadside stalls selling fresh pasta. It was a subtle gap in the local food scene that begged to be filled.

Thus, Pasta Pintal was born, a simple yet strikingly unique concept, bringing fresh pasta to the streets and making it just a tad more accessible to those in the area.

Based on positive reviews and social media videos, the concept quickly became a hit, and the stall has been doing well ever since. What makes it stand out? The experience, of course. You get to watch the entire pasta-making process unfold right before your eyes, from dough to cutter, and then see the fire come alive on the pan as the owner works his magic. It’s not just about eating pasta; it’s about eating fresh pasta by the roadside. Only in Malaysia am I right?

Fresh, flavourful, and full of surprises

But let’s be real—people aren’t just there to watch the pasta being made; they’re eager to dig into some really good pasta too.

Pasta Pintal’s menu certainly delivers. Their menu features five mouth-watering pasta options, each with a homemade sauce that’ll make your taste buds dance.

The Creamy Smoked Duck (RM19) is a fan favourite for good reason. The pasta is fettuccine, made from scratch (duh), and paired with a rich, velvety mushroom sauce. Topped with slices of smoked duck and a runny egg, it’s a creamy dream. If you prefer a different type of pasta, let’s say garganelli, you can request a custom swap to suit your mood.

If you’re into salted egg anything (and honestly, who isn’t?), the Salted Egg Crispy Chicken (RM19) is the one for you. It comes with crispy fried chicken strips and is super aromatic thanks to the curry leaves.

Don’t expect your average rendang here. The Rendang Mak Mak (RM18) pasta is made with beef rendang that’s been simmering for four hours, packing in all that tender, savoury goodness.

Sometimes, you just can’t beat the classic. Pasta Pintal’s Bolognese Beef (RM17) is made with aromatic minced beef and a tangy pomodoro sauce, this dish is comfort in a bowl.

If you’re a ravioli lover, fret not, they’ve got you covered on that front too. Their Ravioli (RM26) comes with chicken, spinach, cheese, sauteed shimeji mushrooms, and a dash of Asian pesto, served in a cream sauce—talk about fusion! This one is only available if you pre-order it one or two days in advance, but trust us, it’s worth the wait.

Pasta Pintal: More than just another roadside stall

While Pasta Pintal has a few staples, they aren’t afraid to get creative. They often have special, limited-time pasta offerings, like their recent Indian Butter Chicken Pasta (RM19). You never know what you’ll get, so keep an eye on their socials.

Now, let’s talk ambiance. If you decide to grab a bite right there at the stall, you’re in for a treat. There are a few tables and chairs, and the whole vibe feels surprisingly cosy, especially at night. The stall is lit with a warm, orange glow, giving off a chill, campfire-like atmosphere. It’s one of those spots where you can totally kick back, enjoy your pasta, and chat with friends. (You are sitting by the roadside, so watch out for traffic!)

The owners are open to catering for private and special events. They’ve even catered for Malaysian actress and TV host Noor Neelofa, which speaks volumes about how their fresh pasta stands up to even the fanciest spots. Imagine serving this handmade goodness at your next party—we bet your guests will be wow-ed!

MFT’s review

We couldn’t wait to dig into our pastas once we got them, and let’s just say, we were not disappointed.

Our favorite? The Smoked Duck Pasta, one of their bestsellers. The al dente pasta paired with that ultra-creamy sauce was absolutely heavenly. It’s easy to see why customers love it. Sure, RM19 for a plate of roadside pasta might seem steep to some, but think about it, fresh pasta like this in any restaurant would easily cost you RM40 or more. Given the quality and freshness of the ingredients, it’s an absolute steal. Fresh, handmade pasta at that price? Yes, please!

The Salted Egg Crispy Chicken Pasta was equally delicious, though we wished it had a bit more sauce to really elevate that salted egg flavour. If you’re craving something familiar and comforting, the Rendang Mak Mak will hit the spot with its tender, flavourful beef. It had a freshness that we really enjoyed.

Ever had fresh pasta from a roadside stall? Now’s your chance.

Pasta Pintal is making a name for itself with its unique and delicious concept that locals can’t get enough of. They’ve made fresh pasta more accessible and fun. Sometimes, it’s not just about the food, but about the overall experience too. Fresh, handmade pasta by the roadside? Who would’ve thought that would be a thing? But Pasta Pintal has pulled it off—and we’re so glad they did. Just be sure to get there early, because they often sell out within the first hour. Yes, they’re that good.

Pasta Pintal is open only on weekends, so plan accordingly. Trust us, your taste buds will thank you!
