If you’re a big fan of pandan (and honestly, which Malaysian isn’t?), then you’re going to want to make a beeline for Pandan Cafe & Dining in TTDI.

This newly opened cafe is causing quite a stir in the area, and for good reason. The star ingredient here? Pandan, of course. From drinks to desserts, and even the main courses, this place incorporates pandan into nearly everything on the menu. Almost every dish has the pandan aromatic twist that’ll have your taste buds doing a happy dance.

If you’re a pandan lover, it’s time to add this spot to the top of your foodie list.

A pandan lover’s dream come true

The concept at Pandan Cafe & Dining is simple yet incredibly clever and unique: pandan takes centre stage in every signature dish. Whether it’s infused in the rice, drinks, or even their waffles, you’re always in for a delightful and surprising pandan experience.

As we all know, this aromatic plant, often under-appreciated, has the magical ability to enhance flavours in the most unexpected ways. The menu here presents a subtle blend of classic local delights and western influences. All thoughtfully crafted to showcase pandan’s versatility.

Despite only debuting a couple of months ago, the cafe has quickly become a popular spot, often filling up fast. So, it’s a good idea to make a reservation if you’re planning to drop by.

Every dish is created with love and passion by the founders, who have over 10 years of experience in the F&B industry. The self-proclaimed dessert enthusiasts bring their flair for treats to the table, while the other founders craft the main dishes, ensuring each one carries its own creative pandan twist.

For those who haven’t put two and two together, Pandan Cafe & Dining is the sister branch of Pandan Dream Cafe in Melawati. The first branch has been around for two years now, with a similar concept, so they’re definitely no strangers to crafting amazing dishes with pandan

The teams at both locations are passionate about using local ingredients to create both traditional and contemporary dishes, ensuring that all diners will find something they’ll enjoy.

The goal is simple, to bring people together for great food and great company. Clearly this is where pandan lovers go, to make their dreams come true.

MFT’s review

With such a unique concept, the team was eager to dive into the dishes at Pandan Cafe & Dining, curious to see how prominently the pandan would shine through and what the overall dining experience would offer.

If you’re a durian lover, boy has this cafe got a treat for you! Pandan Cafe & Dining has a seasonal Pandan Waffle with Durian (RM29). Even if you’re still warming up to the king of fruits, trust us, this one is a must-try.

One look at their presentation and you’ll know that this isn’t your run-of-the-mill dessert waffle. The pandan waffles are served with soft Durian D24 and sago gula melaka offering a really nice balance between sweet and creamy.

Drizzled on top of the waffles is a creamy pandan syrup that elevates the entire dish. It’s an aromatic dessert that tastes better than it smells. We’d definitely return just for this.

Next, we tried their Pandan Lemongrass Rice with Chicken Rendang (RM26). This dish combines fragrant pandan rice with a generous portion of savoury and spicy rendang chicken. The tender chicken is cooked beautifully with a blend of spices, while the lemongrass-infused rice adds a delightful depth.

Spice lovers are going to love their Sambal Udang Petai with Pandan Lemongrass Rice (RM28). Just like the chicken rendang, the sambal is balanced, savoury yet enjoyably spicy, and pairs really well with the fresh petai. The prawns are large and fresh, so you’re definitely getting what you’re paying for. If you’re not a fan of stinky beans, then we say opt for the chicken.

MFT’s top picks

One of our top favourites was their Soup Kambing with Pandan Lemongrass Rice (RM42). The New Zealand lamb shoulder in this dish is melt-in-your-mouth tender. While the broth feels light, it packs rich, deep flavours that warm you from the inside. A hot bowl of this on a rainy day? Perfection! To make it a more filling meal, pair it with their fragrant pandan lemongrass rice.

If you want to opt for something delicious but with a fusion element, try their Nasi Goreng Thai with Lemongrass Chicken (RM26). The lemongrass chicken, wrapped in pandan leaves, is incredibly tender and tasty. The nasi goreng itself has just the right amount of heat and the subtle hints of pandan in the rice elevate the aroma and taste. It tastes like a comforting home-cooked meal but with a pandan twist.

Why eat pandan when you can drink pandan?

After filling our tummies with their fabulous pandan dishes, we couldn’t resist trying their pandan drinks, knowing they would be just as satisfying.

The Pandan Coconut (RM17) is a refreshing drink that combines the fleshy goodness of coconut with the cafe’s signature pandan flavour. It’s cooling, sweet, and unique.

If you’re in the mood for something creamy and indulgent, their Pandan Frappe (RM16) is a must-try and was our favourite out of all the drinks. It strikes the perfect balance of sweetness, ice, and velvety smoothness. Topped with a dollop of cream and lightly drizzled with pandan syrup, this drink is luscious. You’ll be hooked after the first sip.

For matcha enthusiasts, the hot Matcha Latte (RM14) is a creamy, comforting option that pairs with almost anything on the menu. A simple yet satisfying drink for those who love the earthy taste of matcha.

Did this pandan obsessed cafe win our hearts?

After much anticipation, we can confidently say that Pandan Cafe & Dining did indeed win us over. If you ever find yourself in TTDI, be sure to stop by for a truly unique, pandan-inspired experience.
