One of the best parts of a wedding reception… the traditional Malay wedding food! You can’t deny it’s the main thing that makes a wedding amazing, or just good. We are exaggerating, of course, but you get the idea.
When it comes to Malay weddings, people normally seek the usual combination of nasi hujan panas with ayam madu, daging masak hitam, and to top it all off, acar timun. Now, you can get these dishes anywhere in KL and Cyberjaya, all thanks to Nasi Kahwin Hari-Hari outlets.
If you’re curious, this place is not just catered for married couples, but also for single people too. So all those without a plus one, don’t think that you’re not welcome here!

The OG back alley stall
It all started 6 years ago from a stall in a back alley along Lorong Berangan of Bukit Bintang. Due to the specific food they offer to customers, it has gotten super popular to the point that they have now expanded to restaurants with outlets in SOGO KL and Cyberjaya.

Preserving traditional Malay wedding food
Whatever you’re thinking about when it comes to Malay wedding food, they’ve got it.
Let’s start with the basics of what makes a Nasi Kahwin, the Nasi Hujan Panas a.k.a the Rainbow Rice. They prepare as early as 7am! They start by adding pandan leaves, cinnamon, star anise, oil, turmeric and butter, and finishing it with washed rice. Sometimes they will have to do it in batches for the rice to retain its freshness and fluffiness in every serving.
As for the lauk dishes, the chicken & the beef are fresh from the market daily. They also use more than 10 spices and herbs from northern Malaysia. One of the go to lauk here is their Ayam Rose Terangkat, Ayam Madu Dua, Daging Masak Hitam, Kambing Pasamah, Gulai Ikan Temenung, and more!

Does the price cost as much as a wedding?
Well, good news! No, you don’t have to spend too much here.
It comes with a set lunch that includes free flow of Air Sirap. The Nasi Ayam Rose and Nasi Ayam Madu sets only cost RM9, the Nasi Daging Hitam is only RM10, and the Nasi Kambing Pasamah is priced at RM13.
Additionally, you can always top up with other lauk of your choice with their respective prices. The maximum you will spend is about RM30.
What do customers have to say about this place?
According to Google reviews, their stall and restaurant have earned 4.3 stars and above. The positive reviews said that the food reminded them of traditional Malay wedding food from old wedding receptions. Plus, the chicken and meats were tender and the serving was big in portion. Not to mention lots of hype on how the food is good and affordable.
The common negative feedback was that service could be improved. However, most would recommend going back there again, so the pros outweigh the cons!
Is it convenient to head there?
A big yes, especially for the Bukit Bintang stall. It’s only a 3-minute walk from MRT Bukit Bintang (Gate A exit). However, parking is difficult to find so it’s best to plan your visit before heading here.
Due to the limited seating, you may not be able to get a seat straight away; plus, it’s very crowded over the weekend and weekdays during lunchtime. It can be quite hot too so best to bring a mini portable fan if you can’t stand the heat.
So, most people would prefer to go to the restaurant as there is more space, and the temperature is cooler.
