With the rise of Mukbang trends, we find ourselves staying up in the wee hours of the night just watching these content creators eat and eat and eat. There’s some comfort (and hunger) in watching these videos.
What if I told you there’s a place in Selangor where you can fulfil your Mukbang fantasies?
Answer: It’s 1kg worth of nasi goreng.
Overflowing with rice
This roadside stall called Nasi Goreng Melimpah Viral in Selangor will make you want to hide your skinny friends. It will overwhelm you with lots and LOTS of fried rice. Even their motto, “makan sampai tersandar,” directly translates to “eat till you lean back,” says a lot.
The hype and marketing from this roadside stall is worth its weight, this fried rice weighs about 1kg! Its portion is so huge that it can serve up to 6 people. That’s like 3 days’ worth of lunch and dinner for one person!
This family-owned restaurant started during the pandemic and has gained virality for its unique 1kg nasi goreng among residents. Although it’s a simple warung stall, you may need to queue for a few minutes to get seats at a table.
What’s extra unique about this place?
This fried rice is special because it uses their family’s secret sambal recipe, which is made with over seven herbs and spices. Besides that, they serve a big portion of whole squids and prawns on top of the rice.
In fact, the Nasi Goreng Udang Sekilo has about 40 fresh prawns and is priced at RM59.90. As for their squid, they include two big ones in there, priced at RM49.90. If seafood isn’t your thing, you can opt for their beef or chicken.
MFT’s verdict
You can also choose your level of spiciness from mild, medium, and spicy. Being the spicy lovers that we are, the obvious choice is to get the spicy one. It tastes just like how our mom would cook it, with a burst of flavour and a nice spicy kick.
Although the taste didn’t disappoint, we found that it’s nothing extraordinary in terms of how hyped this stall is. It’s good, but we figured the portion is the main selling point. Plus, you will get 1 free jug of air sirap with every 1kg fried rice purchase, which is pretty cool.

Would I travel an hour from KL to Tanjung Karang, Selangor for this fried rice? No, but I would stop by to eat here if I’m passing through.
But Google reviews are 50-50
Google reviews online, however, are divided on this 1kg nasi goreng spot. Most mentioned how the food is delicious and recommended sharing it with others at an affordable price. It also has ample parking space as well as a spacious dining area.
On the opposing side, the long queue and the wait for the food to be served may be an issue.
Overall, this is an interesting concept and it’s hard to find in KL city so grab your closest buds and dig in!
