With Raya holidays right around the corner, now is a good time as any to plan that trip to sunny Hat Yai. But before you start dreading the long drive north, why not consider a different alternative? Why not consider MySawasdee?
What is MySawasdee?
MySawasdee is a train service by KTMB that takes you directly from Kuala Lumpur all the way across the border to Hat Yai. It will be running throughout this year, making it a perfect solution for folks who dislike Malaysia’s usual traffic woes.
But how comfortable can it possibly be? Very! Especially when compared to the cramped space of a car or a bus. The MySawasdee train line uses the classic KTMB models, but they have been refurbished to ensure passenger comfort.

In fact, you have two options to choose from when buying your ticket. You choose between:
- Superior Seater – A 60-seat coach equipped with an onboard toilet.
- Superior Sleeper – Accommodates up to 40 passengers with 20 upper berths and 20 lower berths and includes an onboard toilet.
These passenger coaches also come with overhead luggage compartments where you can store your luggage safely. No more having to squash everything into your car boot! Just note that each passenger can bring two pieces of luggage at most.

You don’t have to stay in your seat or in your berth through the hours-long journey, though! The MySawasdee train has a Cafe Coach, which lets you dine in a comfortable, welcoming setting. The menu has a respectable variety of options, with something for everyone.
Once you are done filling your belly, you can stroll over to the Chillax Coach. This is where you can put your feet up, let your worries go and have chats with other passengers. Not to mention, KTMB has activities lined up for you, so boredom is not a possibility!
While relaxing in the coaches, you will have the unforgettable experience of watching, through the windows, beautiful rural Malaysia pass you by. Instead of worrying about traffic, you can enjoy the view safely, as KTMB has a well-earned reputation for safety.

The MySawasdee train route starts at KL Sentral, before chugging along to the stops of Sg. Buloh, Ipoh, Taiping and Padang Besar before reaching its destination of Hat Yai station. Do note that regardless of where you board, the train fare remains the same.
