When British comedian Rowan Atkinson first introduced Mr Bean 35 years ago, he probably never imagined just how much of an icon the bumbling character would become. Even Malaysians recognise him and his eccentricities, with or without his teddy in hand.
So it’s no surprise that many are thrilled to discover there’s now a Mr Bean-themed café right here in KL. Located in Pavilion Bukit Jalil, this pop-up experience celebrates 35 years of Mr Bean through themed food, drinks, and plenty of photo-worthy mischief.
Of course, we just had to find out what hijinks we could pull here. The café officially opened on 1 November, hosted by Acolab, the same team behind interactive pop-ups for Chainsaw Man and Crayon Shin-chan.
How do you get in?

There are three entry packages to choose from.
- Beverage Package (RM25): Comes with one themed beverage, a collectable card, and admission to the photo zone.
- Meal Package (RM59): Includes everything above plus a themed main dish.
- Fun Package (RM79): Adds an extra collectable card, two coasters, and an activity card.
We went for the Meal Package, just to see how the café’s food held up. Each dish and drink is designed as a nod to characters and moments from the Mr Bean series, blending nostalgia with humour.
Adorable themed dishes

Our first pick was the Teddy Burger, named after Mr Bean’s loyal (and long-suffering) stuffed friend. The top burger bun resembled Teddy’s face, ears and all, and came with fries and sauces on the side. The cuteness is bound to make kids happy. But would they still be as happy when they realise they have to chew through Teddy’s face? That remains to be seen.
We also tried the Big Brekkie, which is a Bean-ified classic breakfast set, with a chicken patty and scrambled eggs. The toast features an imprint of Teddy’s face, because apparently the café isn’t done reminding you who the real start of the show is.
How about drinks and a movie?

For drinks, we had the Hot Choco and Green Lemonade. These were served in collectable cups printed with Mr Bean characters. Appropriately enough, Teddy was on the chocolate, while Mr Bean and his green Mini 1000 were on the lemonade.
Adding to the nostalgia, several Mr Bean animated episodes play on a screen in the dining area. It’s clearly aimed at younger visitors, but honestly, who doesn’t enjoy a quick laugh at Mr Bean’s antics once in a while?
Something for the Instagrammers

After eating, we explored the exhibition’s eight photo zones, each inspired by iconic scenes from the Mr Bean live-action series.
The Bean’s Christmas zone is the infamous turkey moment where you can find Mr Bean losing his head to (in?) a turkey.

Bean’s Armchair has a full-sized replica of Mr Bean’s Mini. As you might guess, there’s a mop sticking out the window and an armchair attached to the roof. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to clamber onto the armchair, tempting as it is.
That episode is such a classic. It’s funny to imagine that scene playing out in our traffic jams, though perhaps best left to Mr Bean himself.
For something interactive, Bean’s Park Fun lets you try your hand at mini golf. Hopefully, you’ll fare better than Bean did in the show.
Don’t forget the merch!

Once your bellies are full and the photobug in you is satisfied, be sure to stop by the merch shop. There are plenty of small Mr Bean-themed merchandise here, including t-shirts, wallets, stuffed toys and notebooks.
Would it Be-an worth your time?
If you grew up watching Mr Bean or just need something fun to do with the kids, this quirky pop-up is worth a visit. It’s playful, nostalgic, and doesn’t take itself too seriously—which is exactly what Mr Bean would want.
