Old Klang Road is not where most people imagine themselves booking a workcation. It is a stretch of the city better known for traffic, shop lots, and practical errands than switching off mentally. Which is exactly why we were curious.
Millerz Square sits along this busy corridor, blending serviced residences with everyday conveniences like cafés, marts, and dining spots. It looks efficient, even ordinary, from the outside. The question was whether it could do more than that. Could a place built for daily living also support focused work, decent rest, and enough separation from routine to count as a workcation?
To find out, we booked a two-day stay in Room 313 and worked from there as we normally would, laptops open, calls scheduled, meals cooked in between.
Checking in and first impressions

We arrived in the late afternoon for the 3pm check-in. The process was smooth and fuss-free, which matters more than you think when you are carrying laptops and already mentally switching between work and rest.
Room 313 opened into a clean, uncluttered space with warm lighting and simple furnishings. Nothing felt excessive or overly styled. Instead, the unit felt immediately usable, which made settling into work mode easy.
The residence layout
The unit is not large, but it is thoughtfully planned. There are two bedrooms, a cosy living area, and a kitchenette that runs neatly along one wall. The dining table sits at the centre, doubling as both a workspace and a dining spot.
What stood out was how intuitive the space felt. You could immediately tell where work would happen, where meals would be prepared, and where rest would come in. The air-conditioning kept the unit cool, and the layout never felt cramped, even when moving between tasks throughout the day.
Workspace and Wi-Fi reliability
For any workcation, this is non-negotiable.
The Wi-Fi connected quickly and stayed stable throughout the stay, holding up during video calls, file uploads, and general multitasking. I worked mainly from the dining table, which comfortably fit my laptop, chargers, and notebook.
Despite being on a relatively low floor, the unit remained quiet throughout the day. This balance of accessibility and calm made long work sessions feel manageable rather than draining.
One drawback worth noting is the lighting. While the warm, dim ambience works well for winding down in the evening, it can feel insufficient during extended work hours. If you rely heavily on bright lighting to stay focused, this is something to factor in.
Groceries and daily conveniences
One of Millerz Square’s strongest points for a workcation is convenience.
In the evening, we headed downstairs to Bila Bila Mart, located within the same development. It was well stocked with essentials, making it easy to plan simple meals without leaving the building. We picked up ingredients for pasta, sandwiches, and light snacks, all within minutes.

Being able to cook without disruption changed the pace of the stay. Instead of rushing out for every meal, we could prepare food while replying to messages and easing between work blocks.
Facilities and surroundings
While we did not explore every facility, the overall environment supported a focused stay. Common areas were clean and well lit, and foot traffic from other residents felt steady without becoming noisy.
The development itself sits comfortably within the city, which means you are never far from cafés, eateries, or essential services. Yet once inside the unit, the atmosphere remained calm enough to sustain work momentum.
Winding down after work
As night set in, the city lights filtered softly into the room. Laptops were packed away, the kitchen was tidied, and the space naturally transitioned into rest mode.
This is where Millerz Square worked particularly well as a workcation spot. It allowed work and rest to coexist without forcing either. There was no pressure to constantly be out exploring, nor did it feel isolating or restrictive.
Is Millerz Square a good workcation option?
Millerz Square may not be the first place people think of for a workcation, but that is precisely what makes it effective. It offers a change of setting without the logistics of long travel, reliable connectivity, practical living space, and enough convenience to support daily routines.
For anyone looking for a short city workcation, especially one that prioritises productivity, comfort, and flexibility over novelty, this serviced residence proves that sometimes the most effective reset is closer to home than expected.
