First on our list of best food in PJ is run by an elderly couple. They run this burger truck right in front of their house near SMK(P) Sri Aman. The price of the burgers here is very reasonable. Besides that, you can either choose to sit on plastic stools and have your burgers there or takeaway. 

They have hot dogs, chicken burgers, beef burgers and even their own version of filet-o-fish! The patties for their beef burgers are homemade and pure juicy goodness in every bite!

2. Sri Ganapathi Mess

For fans of banana leaf rice, don’t look for another shop to fulfill your needs. Sri Ganapathi Mess is the best banana leaf rice in town! Located in Seksyen 1, Petaling Jaya, what makes this restaurant quite unique is because this restaurant is inside a house! 

If you want to try this shop during lunch time, it’s recommended that you try it on the weekend or when you don’t have any important business after lunch. The sleepiness guarantee is pretty high because the rice and curry will definitely make you lick your fingers. The deliciousness of Sri Ganapathi Mess is quite amazing!

This shop is famous for Sarawak Laksa because it suits the taste of the residents, so much so that many people have to queue long just to taste laksa at this shop!

Besides laksa, this famous restaurant also serves kolo mee, kacangma, ngor hiang, pig tummy pepper soup and tomato noodles. I’m sure most of your Sarawakian friends would give this place a huge thumbs up!

4. Zainul Nasi Kandar Original No.90

Nasi Kandar Zainul is one of the spots serving best food in PJ, especially if you are a big fan of Nasi Kandar. This restaurant is located inside the MBPJ Hawker Center building. Its simple side dishes such as white rice, fried chicken, some vegetables and curry variations can cause people to queue up for it.

Nasi Kandar Zainul was originally opened in Penang and then moved to Petaling Jaya. Apart from PJ, this restaurant also opened branches in Puchong and Putra Perdana. Among the delicious food here that people often look for is the main menu which is nasi kandar with fried chicken or fish head curry.

8. Flying Wantan Mee

At this humble yet famous stall in PJ, you’ll get to see the owner’s flying wantan mee skill where he tosses the noodles some 15 feet up into the air and manages to retrieve it every time!

The char siew that goes on top of the springy noodles has a pleasant smoky taste and is slightly sweet from the glaze. The wantan that floats in the soup is silky goodness.

9. Heng Kee Bak Kut Teh

Who doesn’t love a good bowl of steaming herbal bak kut teh especially when it’s raining cats and dogs? Instead of claypots, the bak kut teh here is served in individual plastic bowls with the parts of your choice.

Side dishes are available to go with your bak kut teh like stir fried vegetables, yoo char kuey and tofu puffs. Customers also always order the braised mushrooms which come in a thick gravy.
