@heunkee.claypot is a legendary Michelin Star claypot chicken rice in Pudu, KL which has been around since 1985! Madam Heun, the owner, still uses the traditional charcoal fire to cook the claypot chicken rice!
She started off as a small hawker stall in PJ Old Town wet market selling nyonya kuih, nasi lemak and fried noodles. Madam Heun slowly upgraded to own the restaurant which stands today and is a proud Michelin-star holder!

High grade rice and fresh chickens are used in the preparation of this Michelin-star claypot chicken rice. The specially marinated chicken and rice is smokey with just the right amount of saltiness from the soy sauce!
Besides that, Heun Kee uses a special “2 heat” cooking method to cook this dish. The first heat cooks the rice slowly from the bottom. Then, the second heat consists of an iron lid with burning charcoal being placed on the top of the claypot to cook the chicken.

Another seasonal dish you have to try is Claypot Lap Mei rice with waxed duck and Chinese sausage! This dish is only served between November to March as the lap mei is imported from Hong Kong!
