Is there an ongoing yakitori trend or something? If there is, FooTori is the newest player in the game, setting up shop in Kelana Jaya. Here, your choice of meat is grilled over charcoal imported from Japan, giving it a delicious char and a smoky aroma.

Carnivores of the Klang Valley, here is a new spot to tear meat off the bone. This place serves slow-cooked BBQ meat, with brisket and ribs being the favourites here. Sides are plentiful and filling, and the homemade sauces make every meal perfect.

Pavilion KL is already a foodie hangout, but here’s one more reason to visit Bukit Bintang this July. This new restaurant specialises in handmade, Hong Kong-style noodles. Expect every bowl to be filled with fish cakes and cuttlefish balls, swimming in beef broth.

From the name alone, you would assume that this is another kopitiam. You’d be partly right, as this place has Chinese street food but with a twist. Chee cheong fun with truffle oil, anyone? Everything else on the menu is served tapas-style, perfect for sharing

If you are fond of burgers, this new Kota Damansara eatery should be first on your July list. Quality ingredients and interesting flavours come together here, wedged between sourdough buns. Here, prepare to have all sorts of cheeses and fillings oozing out of your burger.

This new bakery cafe in Sungai Besi caters to those with sourdough cravings. Initially starting off as a pop-up business, this is their first physical outlet. Must-tries include their bagel sandwiches, stuffed with local delights like kam heong chicken and sambal prawn.

Pastry fans have a new hangout spot in Section 17, thanks to the opening of this neighbourhood cafe this July. The cute factor is in play here, with the adorable duck mascot. Food-wise, you will always be recommended the focaccia bread as well as the wide variety of coffees available.

When your restaurant is named after a famous French artist, you can expect the food here to be creative and top-notch. The menu here is on the fusion side of things, with West and East colliding on your plate. Needless to say, it’s perfect for a romantic night out with your loved one.

The craze over Korean food is not over yet, if this Korean-Italian place in Taman Tun Dr Ismail is any indicator. It’s run by a pair of Korean siblings who bake their hand-tossed pizzas in an Italian-imported oven. Try the Korean pizza toppings like bulgogi and buldak!
No place like kampung
- Kedai Kaki Ayam

Not every new restaurant has to serve fancy, avant-garde food. Kedai Kaki Ayam in APW Bangsar is where you go to if you want authentic nasi kerabu ayam percik. It is also run by the 64-year-old Kak Long, whose cooking skills have only strengthened with age.
