When you are tired from work and just need a moment to breathe, there’s no better companion than a furry dog by your side. Dogs and their ever-friendly nature are known stress relievers. And if you don’t have a dog of your own, maybe a trip to Huskiss Cafe may be a timely one for you.

Welcome to Huskiss

The cafe is tucked away in a quiet corner of Kelana Jaya’s Zenith Corporate Park. It is just a ten-minute walk from the nearby Paradigm Mall. As one might guess, the cafe is home to several dogs, mostly huskies. There is the odd malamute and Samoyed among the pack of dogs.

Huskiss was founded in 2017, making it the oldest and possibly the only husky-themed cafe in Selangor. The cafe itself and its dogs are owned by Chan Jia Wei. In a 2021 interview with FMT, he said that the cafe is his way of showing Malaysians what it takes to care for huskies.

Caring for one dog is difficult work. So, imagine caring for eleven dogs in total! They each are entertaining in their own right with their quirks and behaviours. It is these same colourful behaviours that bring customers back to the cafe every time.

Meet the pack

We can’t talk about Huskiss without talking about some of the dogs! Hailey is the alpha of the pack, bossing her underlings around as she struts across the room. Often by her side is Dash, who is her assistant, keeping an eye on things.

Some of these dogs can get rather large, like Orion, who can weigh over 50kg! Be careful that he doesn’t sit on you! Steffi is the grandmother of the group, being 11 years old this year. She is a former family dog and is great with children and elderly visitors.

If you want a good cuddle, Jean is the lass for the job as she loves getting attention from any and all humans. It might be hard to cuddle Dash as, like his name implies, he does the zoomies quite a bit. Shiro might be a good cuddle buddy, given the Samoyed is basically a walking floofball.

Rules and reservations

Do not get overexcited when playing with the dogs. Huskiss has several rules and regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of its dogs. Obviously, you should not be excessively rough when playing with the dogs.

More importantly, you can’t just waltz into the cafe and expect to hang out with the dogs. There are sessions which you must reserve via Huskiss’ official website. There are five sessions available for RM65 each throughout the day. The in-between times are for the dogs’ rest and recovery.

Light refreshments available

If you require refreshments in between playing and cuddling with the dogs, the cafe also offers a small menu with some snacks and drinks. It’s nothing too fancy but will do the job. After all, the cafe’s main attraction is not its food but its dogs.

Worth your time?

Huskiss Cafe is a haven for Malaysians who love but are unable to keep dogs. The dogs are well-trained, and the cafe is comfortable. Thus, spending an hour with them is spending an hour well.
