Chances are, you’ve seen some of MFT’s food review videos. While we’ve covered plenty of unique dishes, like most people, we also crave wholesome, reliable meals from our go-to restaurants—delivered via GrabFood, of course.
Despite being semi-famous food reviewers, we’re not made of money. And we would know best the ways to save money when dining out. A great way is through loyalty programs. You’re already eating at your favourite place all the time anyway, you might as well be rewarded for it.
Introducing GrabFood Stamp Cards. Free rewards and even discounts with no hidden rules? You’d be hard-pressed to find an MFT foodie who doesn’t think these stamp cards are the GOAT.
So, I asked the MFT team about their favourite GrabFood orders and decided to try them myself to see if their taste (and financial advice) really holds up.
1. Steamed Chicken Rice (1977 New Ipoh Chicken Rice)
Natasha (Writer Team Lead)
“My favourite is their steamed chicken, bringing back comfort food from Ipoh. One thing is that the taugeh is really nice.”
She also specifically mentioned that it has to be the Ordinary Chicken on the menu, and not Kampung Chicken, as she feels that kampung chicken is tougher.

As soon as I received the order, the mouthwatering aroma hit me, and my appetite surged. I’ve had this dish many times, and to be honest, I disagree.
While I love the savoury rice, their Kampung Chicken is far superior. The richness of Kampung Chicken is unmatched, especially with their famous Ipoh taugeh—it’s heavenly.
I’d rate Natasha’s favorite dish a solid 8/10. Not a bad start!

2. Shoyu Salmon Signature Bowl (Poke Village)
Sean (Videographer)
Health is important, especially for food reviewers like us who consume such rich and heavy dishes on a near-daily basis. Sean prioritises not only his calorie intake but also deliciousness; thus Poke Village is his choice.
“Because my job makes it difficult to be healthy sometimes, I like to order something healthy and nutritious to make up for it when I get back home.”

I ordered the Shoyu Salmon Signature Bowl, and it was loaded—apples, cucumbers, almonds, corn, seaweed, pumpkin seeds, and, of course, the star: glistening shoyu-marinated salmon cubes.
I loved it. The spicy aioli and ponzu sauces complemented each other perfectly, without competing for flavour. Plus, knowing it’s waistline-friendly? Bonus!

3. Brown Sugar Pearl Fresh Milk (Tea Can Thin)
Izzati (Production Team Co-lead)
“I like sweet boba drinks, but not overly sweet, and this shop has the perfect balance of sweetness.”
Izzati knows that a not-too-sweet treat is the right answer to a bad day, and that’s why she’s chosen Tea Can Thin!

She also recommended the Boneless Breast Chicken Chop, with the Chili Pepper seasoning. After all, you need something to munch on as you sip away at your boba.
I’m a huge fan of their chicken chops, and Izzati definitely knows her spices. But let’s stay objective—we’re judging the boba, not the chicken chop, no matter how tasty it is. So, how does it taste?
Creamy, and as Izzati mentioned, not too sweet! For Malaysians, that’s the highest compliment to give a dessert or drink, so you can take my word for it.

4. Deep Fried Spicy Chicken with Dried Chili (Restoran de Hunan)
Bryan (Videographer)
Okay, so maybe sometimes a healthy meal is not the answer, as our resident street food hunt expert has a deep-fried fave on GrabFood!
“Its fiery kick is addictive, spicy food is always the best! The crunch, the heat, and the rich flavour create a combination that satisfies my taste buds every time.”

As soon as I opened the packet, the peppery aroma hit me, and I knew I was in for a treat. Spiced with Sichuan peppercorns for an authentic Chinese kick, the tender chicken had a crispy, delicious texture. I paired it with hot white rice, and I’m glad I did.
While the flavours were bold, the saltiness was a bit much, and it definitely needed rice or a carb to balance it. Still, the overall experience was delicious, and I can see myself ordering this again on a cold, rainy night.

5. Chicken Mandi Combo (Halab KL)
Syadia (Writer)
“Halab’s chicken mandi set is huge and perfect for sharing, making it totally worth the price for two. Plus, this place is really famous for their nasi arab.”
Syadia’s got it right—ordering for two maximises the value of delivery fees. That’s how seasoned GrabFood users do it. According to her, Halab KL is the go-to spot for Arabic food in Bukit Bintang.

First impression: the chicken looks amazing with its roasted skin, making it all the more appetising. Scooping up the fluffy, heavily spiced basmati rice is equally satisfying.
The smoky fragrance and perfectly balanced spices, paired with the crunch of cashews, add a great texture contrast to the soft rice. Definitely approved.

6. Torched Salmon Rice Bowl (Mei by Fat Spoon)
Wendy (KLHojiak Team Lead)
“I like to order their Torched Salmon Rice Bowl whenever I feel like I want to eat some healthy rice bowl! You can tell it’s very fresh, and the lime chilli dressing makes it even better!”
I totally understand the importance of fresh salmon. Nothing’s better than seeing giant chunks of tender pink flesh flaking off on your fork.

I’m all about mixing rice bowls, and breaking open the onsen egg was pure bliss. When every element came together—creamy egg yolk, zesty dressing, and rich salmon—I was in heaven.
The torched salmon added a perfect smokiness, and I can see why this is Wendy’s favourite GrabFood order. Next time I’m near The Hub, I won’t be tempted by anything else.

7. Aroma Truffle Teriyaki Chicken Series Set (Agrain)
Sofia (Video Team Lead)
“Their aroma truffle teriyaki chicken is my go-to order as it’s super nice and fulfilling! Portion is big so it can be my dinner too.”

Who doesn’t love generous portions? Abundance is worth celebrating. Aroma Truffle, known as the strongest truffle brand, delivers that unmistakable mushroom flavour.
One bite of the honey soy chicken thigh drenched in Aroma Truffle teriyaki sauce, and I knew it would quickly become a favourite. As a mushroom lover, I also appreciated the thyme shimeji mushrooms.

8. Salted Egg Buttermilk (Buttermilk Kitchen)
Terence (Production Team Co-lead)
Not only does this dish satiate Terence’s daily need for rice, buttermilk gravy might just be one of the most sinful sauces to come about.
“Salted Egg Buttermilk Rice is the one to-go for life! So good, I always order the same! The salted egg really packs a punch and the buttermilk sauce is just nice and creamy.”

Image Credit: Kuasa BMW on Google Review (right)
I’m not a fan of salted egg—quite the opposite, actually—so I approached this order with some hesitation. But my love for buttermilk gravy won out, and soon the scent of creamy goodness filled the air.
The taste? Better than expected! Salted egg can be overpowering, but Buttermilk Kitchen’s subtle, yet tasty seasoning on the fried chicken was perfect. Paired with rice and buttermilk gravy, it was a comforting flavour explosion. I’ll definitely be returning to SS15 for this!
