For residents of the Klang Valley, staring up into the night sky these days can be quite depressing. Light pollution has made it hard to see the stars which once roamed the skies, let alone admire them. That said, if you are looking to light up your life, literally and metaphorically, perhaps visiting Malaysia’s biggest lighting event at Luna Lights Wonderland may be timely!
Biggest in Malaysia

From 17 January to 23 February, the Bukit Jalil Recreational Park is playing host to Luna Lights Wonderland. Registered in the Malaysian Book of Records for its immense scale, this nighttime event features over 1.8 million glimmering LED lights covering an area of over 4,600 sqm. Needless to say, this is the perfect event for Instagrammers or parents who want to give their kids a lasting childhood memory. This is not the first time Luna Lights Wonderland has been wowing Malaysians, as the event has previously set up shop in Johor, Penang and Malacca.
Highlights of the event include seven differently themed zones. The first among these is Insectopia Jungle. Hope you aren’t scared of creepy crawlies! Does anyone want to be an astronaut? There is a space-themed zone which will help you live out your fantasies. Visiting with your sweetheart? Off to the Romance zone with you. Does your kid love nature? The three zones of Forest, Aquatic and Animal are right there. Oh, and there’s also a Cat zone.
Cats are welcome!

Speaking of, good news for the legions of Malaysian cat lovers out there. Luna Lights Wonderland is a cat-friendly zone, with your feline princes and princesses permitted entry for no fee at all! The only requirement which applies to your four-legged furkids is to keep them on a leash at all times. The last thing you want is for your kitty cats to chew on a string of LED lights.
There are more than just the themed zones in Luna Lights Wonderland, however. Whip out your cameras to snap photos of the Aurora River, a stream flowing with captivating colours and heavenly beauty. The Laser Space will surely blast you into the future!
What else is there?
Also, be sure to stroll through the three tunnels present at the event, two of which are based on Star Wars and Avatar respectively. Perhaps this would be a perfect venue for a cosplayers’ meetup. There are also many food and game stalls awaiting you once you are done exhausting your camera’s memory.
Interested? Tickets are priced at RM20 for adults and RM10 for children aged 12 and below. Visitors with disabilities are granted free entry, as are pet cats as previously mentioned. Don’t bother looking at how to buy tickets online as tickets are only sold on-site.
Visitors are encouraged to leave their cars in the park’s two designated parking zones. The event is also accessible through a bridge linking Bukit Jalil Pavillion and Bukit Jalil Recreational Park. For more information, contact Bella at 014-8222308.
