Bangsar is something of a foodie haven, with a large variety of options for everyone. And while it’s busiest during the night, there are plenty of cafes which welcome the brunch crowd. Some of these are popular spots, with great food and ambience to offer.

If you like brunch, you will like Nutmeg. This cafe has an open-concept layout with seating options with a little more privacy. Food-wise, Nutmeg offers a mix of Western and Asian dishes on its menu.

The standout at Nutmeg has to be the Nutmeg Big Breakfast, with house-made lamb sausages, fried mac & cheese balls and hash potatoes. For those with a sweet tooth, do indulge in the Chocolate Fudge Cheesecake.

You’d think you’re in Melbourne rather than in Bangsar when entering this shop. The cafe is housed in an old printing factory and has a distinct industrial-chic aesthetic with high ceilings and large windows.

It is comfy enough for you to enjoy their Mr Terry Benedict, which has 24-hour braised beef cheeks with yuzu hollandaise. Another crowd favourite is the Leprechaun, a mix of sweetcorn and zucchini fritters with creamed mushrooms.

As the name suggests, this cafe has a space theme. An example of this is the moon phases etched on its windows. Even the globe-shaped lights make you feel like you’re going to float off into deep space.

Before flying to Mars, check out the cafe’s top-tier coffee and other offerings. The Portobello Katsu Sando is a beloved sandwich with crispy mushrooms squished between Japanese milk bread.

Another Melbourne-inspired cafe, Urban Daybreak has a semi-alfresco patio. Because of this, It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely brunch. 

The cafe is famed for its Urban’s Really Big Breakfast, a generous platter with house-made sausages, bacon and homemade BBQ baked beans. If you want even more protein, check out the Stout Pulled Pork with Poached Eggs.

In reality, this cafe wouldn’t look out of place in Paris. With its minimalist aesthetic, warm wood tones and modern furnishings, this place is both relaxed and stylish. ALTA is the place to go to when you want something artsy, made fresh just for you. 

Must-tries include the Alta Beef Burger, with two Angus beef patties layered with cheddar and a special sauce. For something lighter, indulge in the Smoked Haddock Omelette, a great post-workout food.

Like Breakfast Thieves, PULP is located in a former printing factory. These days, it is a haven for coffee lovers. In fact, the cafe is designed with a coffee lab and serving station, allowing diners to see their coffee being made in person.

In terms of food, the Gula Melaka French Toast is often spoken about. You must especially try the Lamb Ragu Pasta, another highly recommended dish.

Paddington would have loved this place. It has a bright and cheerful interior, with indoor trees! If you are bringing family or are just health-conscious, Marmalade will tick many boxes for you. For example, the healthy menu includes the Smoked Duck Carbonara and Berry Bliss Smoothie Bowl.

Scandinavian food is hard to find in Malaysia, aside from IKEA. This cafe is a rare find then, with its minimalist Scandinavian vibes. It has a modern apartment setting with gorgeous views of the city skyline. 

While enjoying the view, be sure to check out the cafe’s expertly brewed coffee. And if your stomach is rumbling, treat yourself to the Danish Breakfast. This has house-made rye bread with banana and avocado, which is perfect for your inner Scandinavian.
