It’s no secret that Damansara Uptown comes alive at night. Even at 3am, you will find people enjoying a quick supper. So, if you’re ever wandering around Damansara Uptown late at night and find yourself with an intense yong tau foo craving, stop by Ah Keong Yong Tow Foo, a popular destination for a quick, midnight supper, often packed with regulars.

Having seen a few viral videos about this place, we were very excited to check it out. At the time of writing, they have a 4.4-star rating on Google Reviews. To avoid any long queues, we were at this stall before it even opened, despite the pouring rain. The dedication, people.

We got a chance to talk to the uncle as he set up shop. Sporting an affable nature, he shared that he and his wife have been selling their yong tau foo for nearly 40 years now. Having been at the hawker centre for years, they have gradually built a strong base of loyal customers.

Another selling point is that this stall is pork-free, which makes it a hotspot amongst the Muslim community. It can be hard to locate a pork-free yong tau foo eatery, especially if your craving hits late at night, so you’ll often find big Malay families enjoying a meal here.

The variety here is pretty darn good, with over 20 different offerings, including chee cheong fun.

MFT’s Verdict

The spread was vibrant and everything looked very fresh. Bubbling with excitement and tummies growling, we went all out.

We salivated as the uncle flooded our plate with the sweet brown sauce—light in consistency—topping it off with a ladle of his special chilli sauce. Yong tau foo with a banjir plate is the way to go and you can’t convince us otherwise. So, the generous amount of sauce was already a huge plus point for us.

The uncle’s chilli sauce is a highlight. It was really good, easily one of the better yong tau foo chilli sauces out there. Each bite had a lovely kick that was almost addictive. Its thick texture was extremely flavourful, complementing the brown sauce perfectly with just the right amount of spice. Absolutely no complaints.

Our selection tasted as fresh as it looked. Anything deep-fried maintained its crispiness but thankfully did not taste oily, another plus point. Everything was well-seasoned and didn’t taste bland. We personally enjoyed the fried beancurd items the most!

Worth the hype?

We can understand why there is always a long queue at Ah Keong Yong Tow Foo. The delicious offerings combined with the uncle’s bubbly personality keep patrons coming back for more.

Just remember, it is an open-air food court so it can get a little stuffy, and it’s certainly not an ideal environment to dine in when it rains. Still, open till 11.30pm every day, it is the perfect spot for Damansara residents to satisfy their late-night yong tau foo cravings.
