At Nasi Kukus Ilham, it’s the same but with the addition of fried anchovies. The restaurant is always full of visitors with many of them queuing up to take orders. The uniqueness of this packaged nasi kukus is that the spicy fried chicken juts out a little from the package, especially for those who choose the chicken thigh part. The portion of rice is generous and chicken pieces are large, seriously good nasi kukus!

Nasi Kukus Pahlawan Merah can be said to be one of the best value nasi kukus around KL. Only RM6 for a set of steamed rice with quarter chicken! The soft steamed rice is served with a quarter ayam goreng berempah, accompanied by cucumber, gulai and sambal belacan. It’s quite appetizing! Long queues to get nasi kukus here are not uncommon. Beef gulai, fish curry, cucumber slices and sambal, plus ayam goreng berempah will make anyone want to try it. This nasi kukus chain is the most famous in Malaysia with branches from Johor to Penang! The specialty is the gravy and rice is placed inside an aluminium tin which you will have to “tonggek” or tip on your plate to savor the nasi kukus. The gulai tastes like a thick nasi kandar gravy and is served along with sambal and cucumber slices. When viewed from the outside, it looks like an ordinary nasi kukus stall. However, do not value a restaurant from the outside, because this Nasi Kukus Kak Ma restaurant is quite famous in Semenyih! Of course, the best-selling menu at this restaurant is nasi kukus. In addition to ayam goreng berempah, you can also try fried catfish & fried talapia fish. The sambal is spicy, but not too much. The price for nasi kukus is around RM 5 only. Worth it for the large amount of rice and delicious side dishes!
