The Lost World of Tambun in Ipoh is one of the earliest theme parks in Malaysia. It has a complete, big-scale water park, a variety of amazing games, a zoo, and even a spa and hot springs!

The Geyser of Tambun is one of the most interesting features here. It surprises the guests by gushing hot springs 40 feet up from the ground at every hour. With subtle lighting, it’s even more impressive at night.

2. Geological Museum

If you interested in geology and geoscience education, a visit this museum in Ipoh is a must. Here you will see various collections of fossils, rocks, minerals, precious and semi-precious gemstones and some tin samples found in the Kinta Valley, Perak.

3. Han Chin Pet Soo

This museum tells the story and history of tin miners and the Hakka people from Ipoh. There are 4 tours per day and each session lasts an hour and a half. A maximum of 20 people are allowed to enter for each tour session. During the tour, you will be guided by staff to explore every corner of the exhibition.

4. Sam Poh Tong Temple

Sam Poh Tong Temple is one of the most famous and oldest temples in Perak. Besides that, this cave temple is one of the largest in Malaysia. Operating since 1950, it is built in a peaceful and safe raw limestone cave in the mountain.

One of the attractions in this temple is the beautiful Japanese pond full of carp. In this pond there are also Japanese turtles that are a symbol of longevity. If you are stopping by for a meal, a vegetarian restaurant outside is often the choice of the crowd.

It only takes 246 steps climbing to reach an open cave. There you will be able to see the best view of Ipoh city.

5. Time Tunnel, Ipoh

Items in here surely would make you reminisce your childhood! This is a private museum owns by a local Chinese businessman, See Kok Shan. Opened in 2007, it has around 1,000 memorabilia, from a copy of P. Ramlee’s identity card, an old milk can and a kerosene stove to a British-era chair and a Merdeka-era postman’s red bicycle.

6. Concubine Lane

Ipoh and Concubine Lane are almost synonymous. It is a 150m-long lane between old shophouses, with food and drink vendors as well as souvenir shops along the lane. The decorations themed around Ipoh Chinese society have been the main attractions here.

Gunung Lang Recreational Park is an interesting place in Ipoh that’s becoming increasingly popular among locals and tourists. It’s a beautiful former mine lake surrounded by unique limestone hills. Now this place has been developed with several constructions and inventions that add to the existing beauty.

This recreational park is divided into 2 areas, the entrance area and the recreation area across the lake. You can take a boat to the recreation area where several attractions await.

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by an artificial waterfall that descends from the top of the limestone hill. There are 2 observation towers in this recreational park. Whereby each tower is located on the edge of a limestone hill and of a lake. Both of these towers offer great views but do expect a climb to get there.

The Gunung Lang Recreational Park mini zoo is absolutely family-friendly. It offers a short walk to see peacocks, ducks, cows, deer, ostriches, ponies and more!

9. Birch Memorial Clock Tower

JWW Birch was the first resident in Perak and is often mentioned in your history classes. Witness the mark of history by visiting the JWW Birch Memorial Clock Tower. It is located right opposite of the Perak State Mosque.

While admiring the uniqueness of this clock tower construction, you can also at the same time strengthen your knowledge of Perak state history. The construction of this tower is located in the middle of an open square surrounded by buildings that are heavily influenced by old English architecture. In the 4 panels around this tower, there are paintings of 44 figures representing the figures of civilizations around the world.
