Rumah Penghulu Abu Seman or sometimes just known as Rumah Penghulu is one of the popular attractions in Kuala Lumpur, but it’s rarely visited by the locals themselves. This is because it’s not like other attractions that are more prominent for all of us. Nevertheless, Rumah Penghulu is one of the important attractions for us to get to know more about traditional Malay architecture.

When Was It Built?

It’s an old Malay House that was built in stages between 1910 and 1930. It’s a house originally owned by a village chief in Mukim Bagan Samak, Bandar Baharu, Kedah. It was originally located in Kampung Sungai Kechil but was restored and relocated (1996-1997) by the Malaysian Heritage Agency.

What’s There to See Here?

It’s an important sightseeing location as it’s an example of an old Malay House architecture. Through its new location which is the city of Kuala Lumpur surrounded by tall buildings, Rumah Penghulu itself is in an area filled with traditional and heritage herbal plants containing more than 50 types of herbs and trees which add to the uniqueness of this location as a location education.

In addition to the house’s architecture, interior space, decoration, equipment and surroundings, visitors can actually join many guided tours provided by many tourism agencies in Kuala Lumpur to enjoy additional activities.
