This first one needs no introduction and is where most matcha lovers in PJ go to get their daily dose of green. Hejau is known for their high-quality and robust matcha, but also their slightly higher prices and smaller cups. The cafe is compact but does not lack in aesthetics.
I am not really a matcha fan but have tried the Strawberry Matcha Latte (RM16) here, and actually enjoyed it. For all my lactose intolerant folks out here, you can swap in oat milk for an additional RM3.

2. ONO

Oh no! Another cafe that’ll bleed you dry because of how good their drinks are. ONO is Malaysia’s first coffee and matcha specialty cafe. Located in SS2, it currently boasts a high rating on Google with over 400 reviews.
Their matcha and houjicha lattes are much loved by patrons, as they offer a more rich, creamy, and smooth finish. They even playfully claim that their drinks can leave you with a matcha moustache (it’s true).
They have a range of different Niko Neko matcha powders for you to choose from, each one offering different flavour profiles. Their Signature Strawberry Puree Matcha (RM17) is definitely worth checking out.

If you haven’t heard, Fin’s Matcha Strawberry Cold Foam Cream (RM16) is kinda trending on social media at the moment. This is hands down the most lush strawberry matcha on this list.
It’s a little different from the rest because it features a rich iced matcha topped with a decadent cloud of cold strawberry foam. This results in a creamier, smoother drink that’s also visually stunning. Talk about a true ‘hot girl drink’!

4. Three Guys

Three Guys has been around for years now, with outlets in Bangsar and Mahsa Avenue. This cafe is sort of an underdog—many people don’t seem to know about it—but trust me when I say that their beverages are top-notch. The matcha here is one of my favourites to date thanks to its thick, milky, and creamy texture.
Their Signature Strawberry Matcha (RM16) uses strawberry puree, offering a thicc sip. You can substitute whole milk for soy or oat milk if that’s more your vibe. It’s easily one of my go-to cafes and I’d highly recommend the Spanish Latte too.

5. Hulu Cafe

Hulu Cafe is a newer addition but is certainly not shy with its matcha game. Their menu boasts an array of matcha drinks and sweet treats, so it’s no surprise that they have their own twist on the famed Strawberry Matcha drink.
It is on the pricier side, coming in at RM20 for their HULU Ichiga Matcha Misu. The drink is topped with a dollop of matcha cream for that extra pzazz. Despite the higher price tag and smaller portion, reviews highlight satisfied customers.
They have a range of creative matcha drinks to explore, though some might find them a tad bit too sweet.
