To get rid of unpleasant odors in your washing machine or brighten white clothing, add some freshly squeezed lemon juice to the detergent slot. If you have a top load washing machine, pour in the lemon juice during the rinse cycle and voila! Clean washing machine and brighter clothes!

You just cut meat or fish on your cutting board and now it stinks! How to get rid of the smell and clean your board at the same time? Easy! Generously sprinkle salt on the surface of your cutting board. Use half a lemon and rub the salt into the board. Rinse with water once done and be gone smelly board!

Squeeze the juice of half a lemon into the kettle and toss in the peel as well. Pour some water in and bring to a boil. Discard the lemon water and rinse with clean water.
